Originally used to celebrate a Service of Holy Communion at Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, MI in Advent of 1999, these musical pieces are designed to be used together to lead worship, but each discreet section of the liturgy can be used on its own.
A variation on Martin Luther’s Chorale Mass, each piece reflects the function of a particular aspect of the Western liturgy. The musical style of each was chosen from among the diverse musical vocabularies evident in American Christianity because it musically complimented the theological content and purpose of that section of the liturgy. With styles ranging from Gregorian chant to Gospel, the intent is to facilitate both breadth and depth in the worship of a congregation.
Recordings of select sections are available below and are from the premiere usage. Sheet music soon to follow.
